Otherwise

I’ve found myself coming back to this poem time and time again over the last six months. I return to it each time tragedy strikes and I have to dig deep to be reminded that the world remains a beautiful place. That underneath tragedy, beauty and magic thrives and exists in the most ordinary moments of our day.

I’m reminded that all I have is the present moment. It is up to me to make of it what I will. I can fall into anger and judgement or I can choose to love a little harder. Be a little kinder. Find a little more joy in the ordinary. Be a little more grateful for the seemingly mundane. And in doing so I just might make the world a little bit brighter.
